Kelly Rowland at the MTV Staying Alive Foundation Gala Dinner

We’re not ashamed to admit that Kelly Rowland is our favorite member from the group formerly idolized as Destiny’s Child. Although she rarely appeared in the trio’s choreography and didn’t take as many solos as Beyonce, Kelly was always the one who stood out the most. Why? Well, it’s simply because she always has her hair cut short. We also know that Kelly is a true fashionista. Her front row styles are always chic and she possesses that calm beauty that’s always poised. At the MTV Staying Alive Foundation dinner gala, she not only showcases her ultimate beauty, but she also took center stage at the event. Hosting and performing for the event that honored the career and life of MTV’s Chairman and Chief Executive of MTV Networks International, Mr. Bill Roedy, Kelly Rowland was definitely the center of attention in a stunning floor-length black dress.

The unknown label of this dress was just simple gorgeous on her fit and toned body. As you can see, her sleeveless arm bears a sculpted form and the dress itself forms a sleek line throughout her body – now that’s how every form fitting dress should look like! We’re a little apprehensive about the sleeve under the flounce of her other shoulder, maybe if it weren’t there at all, the top part of the dress wouldn’t look so much like a sports top – but Kelly wore it with such elegance that we’re willing to overlook that one flaw from the dress. Completing her look with a pair of glittering chandelier earrings and an animal print pair of shoes (look closer and they’re just peeking from the dress), the whole look was glamorous but not over the top. Her side swept bangs was neatly styled to not be a distraction from her flawless makeup (which made it look like she’s not wearing any at all!). Karolina Kurkova at the latest Berlin Fashion Week

There’s no denying that there wouldn’t be a fashion week without any models, but the appearance of a supermodel – now that’s a whole different matter entirely. Appearing as the latest ultimate face of Mercedes Benz for the Mercedes Benz Berlin Autumn Winter 2011/2012 Fashion Week, Czech-born model Karolina Kurkova lit up the cold winter day of Berlin with her effervescent smile. Attending several different shows in the runways of Berlin Fashion Week, Karolina totally played it save in a sweet Azzedine Alaia LBD. We’re always surprised when a model (and of her caliber no less!) shows up to a fashion event wearing something borderline boring – aren’t models supposed to be friends with fabulous stylists all over the world? Or is this event not important enough for Karolina? Despite the fact that she is the new face of the main sponsor of the event, we would expect a little more pizzazz to her own ensemble. It’s understandable that Berlin Fashion Week is less hoity toity than Milan or Paris, but it wouldn’t hurt to glam it up a little, no?

Not all was lost – despite her lack of effort to her ensemble, we do love Karolina’s fresh look. The key look in which she stars in for Mercedes Benz took glamazon to a whole new meaning – it’s super fierce! Fashionably casual Elle Macpherson at the IWC Boutique in SIHH 2011

Who’s forty seven years young, a supermodel and an all around fabulous woman? Elle Macpherson of course! The Aussie model and actress showed up at the IWC boutique at the International Fine Watch Makers Exhibition or the SIHH in Geneva, Switzerland. Showing up with a bright and confident stride, a bright smile, and relaxed feel, the beautiful Elle wore a tight fitting leather pants which makes us in the SwankPolice Headquarters wonders if we would be looking as fabulous as her when we’re in our forties. Pairing the look with a nautical blue and white long sleeved t-shirt and a biker-girl worthy leather jacket, it’s really nice to see this casual look is definitely something that’s natural for her. Things took a turn to the sexy when we see Elle’s feet are clad in a sexy red lace up booties to make that “I’m here!” statement. The aviators? A nice touch to top off the whole look. We can’t think of anyone who looks this good at being casual, can you? Gwyneth Paltrow at the Baume & Mercier Gala Event in Geneva

When we first saw this picture of Gwyneth Paltrow at the Baume & Mercier event, it was the first time our SwankPolice squad has ever been doubtful of our ability being a team of Fashion Police. Remembering this article by our friend, the Swank Observer, we’re not sure how we feel about Gwyneth Paltrow in this lovely Azzedine Alaia ribbed pink ruffled dress. On the other hand, this Academy Award winning actress is no stranger to being iconic in the color. The dress she wore at the award ceremony in which she received the highest achievement in film was a simple pink princess dress designed by Ralph Lauren that has taken a unforgettable impression to fashion watchers everywhere. Not to mention, she recently covers many big named magazine’s covers in pink cowgirl-ish ensembles to promote her newest movie, Country Strong.  Pairing her dress with a hot pink Pierre Hardy peep toes made the look even extra sweeter – but is this good or bad? We really couldn’t decide if this is a good look or not because there are so many factors that would make this look work and some that doesn’t. Something is definitely off. Is it the hair? Chris, Rob, or James?

We really cannot decide which man is hotter in their Gucci suits. We love these boys way too much and we’re not ashamed to say that each of these actors are YOUR imaginary boyfriends, too! Chris Evans, aka soon-to-be Captain America looked like he can charm the room with his confident smile. Maybe that’s why he’s attractive… His confidence is something that we can all copy because there’s no other way to say it; confidence IS sexy! Aside from that, arriving at the 68th Golden Globes Awards celebration, Chris Evans wore a Made to Order black notch lapel two button tuxedo with white French cuff dress shirt, a black satin bow tie and black patent leather lace up shoes to match. We’re still deciding if we like him better in superhero uniform or this form fitting outfit.

If brooding men are more your type (because some of us in the SwankPolice Headquarters does prefer this), then maybe Robert Pattinson will steal your heart. After stealing half of the world’s women’s population as his portrayal of the sensitive (and blingy) vampire, Edward Cullen, he definitely stole our hearts as he glides down the Golden Globes red carpet. In his midnight navy Marseille grosgrain peak lapel one button tuxedo with custom white dress shirt and midnight navy tie, R-Patz looked quite relaxed in this black tie event. It’s definitely because of the option of the tie that he chose rather than a bow tie that made him looked at ease. Either way, that smile warms our heart in this cold days and makes our faces sparkle with our own bright fan girl smile.

Last but not least is James Franco. What can we say about this man that hasn’t been said before? James Franco is ALL THAT and more. His accomplishments includes being talented in acting, being smart in education and being handsome in physique. As one of the nominees of the Golden Globes event that night (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his leading role in Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours), he looked like he was having the most fun. His mysterious and nonchalant attitude makes us squeal with more delight. The ensemble made to measure black Heritage two button tuxedo with satin peak lapel, custom white French cuff dress shirt, black silk bow tie and black leather lace up shoes that he wore was just too general for him. Well maybe there should be a balance between his many accomplishments and his dressing. He lost to Colin Firth, but he sure did win our hearts.

Rachel McAdams at the Berlin Premiere of 'Morning Glory'

Nothing makes a better statement than a radiant red dress on the red carpet. And that’s exactly what Rachel McAdams did as she arrived at the Berlin premiere of her latest movie, Morning Glory. Wearing a low back, sling halter dress designed by Michael Kors, the look is quintessentially Rachel. Paired with a simple black clutch, hoop earrings and some bangles to match, Rachel can really do make looking sassy by not going too over the top. Although we must say that the red lips is just a little too matchy-matchy with the carpet she’s walking on. We’d prefer the smoldering sexy eyes makeup for a full on red ensemble and a nude colored shine on the lips. The golden colors that she’s using on the shade of her eyes doesn’t really compliment her fabulous golden locks that she created in this high up-do. Next time you want to make a statement with red, do prioritize which assets you want to highlight in your look. Beau Garret at the Dubai Premiere of TRON: Legacy

Are we the only one who thinks actress Beau Garrett looked A LOT like model Jessica Stam in the movie TRON: Legacy? We had to wiped the cobwebs off from our eyes to make sure it wasn’t Stam (when the end credit rolled, the model is nowhere near the character Gem that Beau Garrett was wearing). Well, during her visit at the 7th Dubai Film Festival, Beau Garrett definitely was does NOT look like Jessica Stam – but she does remind us with another model: Christy Turlington. The long, legged darling from the latest box hit movie shows us the right way to go dress from day-to-night. At the photo call, Beau was wearing a white cocktail dress that was both simple and appropriate. Given the heat of Dubai, the sleeveless dress with pockets on the front side of the skirt is something that we can totally copy.

Later on at the Dubai premiere of the movie, Beau changed it up to represent the science fiction and fantasy genre of the movie. The metallic Grecian cut dress sways well on her tall figure. No complicated pleats or ruffles were necessary for her, thus making it loose but still ladylike. This proves that you don’t have to pick something too tight to show your womanly curves. The dress was paired with vintage accessories from the House of Lavande. Different from her co-star’s Olivia Wilde’s dress at the UK Premiere of the movie, the key is to adapt well to your surrounding. Don’t pick outfits just because it’s THE trend, count the factors of the weather as well. So, if there’s a dress code to your New Year’s Eve party, Beau’s silver metallic dress is definitely going to get you true fashion action. Thanks to her part in TRON: Legacy, we hope the fashion world will have a new red carpet darling with Beau’s effort in highlighting the best of the best in fashion. Jessica Alba at the New York Premiere of 'Little Fockers'

To help ring in the holiday season’s look, Jessica Alba is definitely the one to copy. In a white strapless swinger dress by Valentino, she shimmies her way into the premiere of her latest movie, ‘Little Fockers’. The tiered dress (which we agreed reflects a Christmas tree very well) is not for everyone, but on Jessica, it does look fabulous. Appropriate for the season and totally glams up the red carpet event. This is how everyone should look in their holiday party at the last batch of 2010. When choosing colors for the season’s events, creams, whites, silvers or greys are the better option instead of the common green and red combo – just remember how cold/windy/snowy so that when choosing a wrap, jacket or coat, you still look fabulous with it without over powering the dress you’re wearing. Jessica paired her look with a strappy Louboutin heels and a matching bright clutch to match. This is also another note when you accessories your already statement-making dress: keep it toned down. Angelina Jolie Carrying the Gucci 1973 Tote Bag

Perhaps someone who is as fabulously fierce as Angelina Jolie does look really good when strutting any “It” items in fashion. It’s a well known fact that she is in a category of “women wants to be her and men wants to be with her” and to make things far more envious, in fashion, she rarely takes a misstep. Always looking poised and perfect for the camera, Angelina Jolie is one of those people who dresses to fit her personal preference and body type. Rarely we’ve seen her in a ruffle-friendly gown, couture creations, or even an outfit made out of meat, Angelina is a style star because she keeps it real. Basic blacks, navy, cream and browns are probably always in stock in her closet – and that’s why it’s easy for us mere mortals to follow the lead in everyday dressing from Ms. Jolie (or is it Mrs. Pitt?)

Just as she was arriving for a press junket for her latest movie, she stepped out of the car in a matching camel coat with a deeper brown colored leather boots. The heels were sensible enough to not be too strenuous for the feet, the coat long enough to ward off the Parisian chill. The Gucci 1973 bag that she totes is matched with a Jackie O-styled sunglasses. Although every piece of clothing in this outfit screams out SAFE! the SwankPolice Squad approves how easily this look can be copied with what we have in our own wardrobe closets. Lenny Kravitz at the Bulgari 125 Years of Excellence in Paris

Who doesn’t know this sexy rock star? Lenny Kravitz is definitely ALL that and more. Before we turn in our Fashion Police badges so that we can run away to Paris, camp outside of his house and become a stalker groupie, we’d better finish assessing how he looks at the arrival of this gala event. We wouldn’t expect anything less from Kravitz, actually. The all black ensemble, black leather jacket, black pants, sunglasses to top off the look and that fur stole to ward off the chill of Paris this time of year. Hoping that the fur is faux, we really can’t take our eyes off his superstar sexiness.

So, how does one achieve this look? Tell your wannabe rock star friends that the key is in the attitude. Just like Kravitz, it doesn’t really matter what one is wearing, but he had perfected that nonchalant look in front of the camera. The leather is strictly optional, but notice how rock stars gets a whole slew of women falling over their feet? It’s that aura of mystery.
